Do you have a good hummus recipe? :)
Hi Amber, this is my favorite recipe for hummus: http://www.thewannabechef.net/2011/01/17/snickerdoodle-dessert-hummus
Do you have some low GI or low GL recipes? What do you think of these two diet plans? Thanks.
Hi Lee, I’d say that most of my recipes are naturally lower on the glycemic index than traditional desserts (unless the recipe includes ingredients such as brown sugar, dry fruits or honey). Regarding the glycemic load diet, I’d say that the recipes under the category “low carb” or “made with protein powder” would probably fit in that diet. I think both diet plans (Glycemic Index or Glycemic Load) can make sense. The advantage of the Glycemic Load Diet is that it takes into account the foods’ serving sizes. However, after reading a few reviews on Amazon, I’m not really convinced of the utility of reading the book for someone who already follows a healthy diet.
Thank You! :)
Hi! Love your site! But I’m vegan – do you think I could substitute non-vegan protein powders for rice, hemp and pea ones? I like brown rice sunawarrior best, it’s the only one I’m able to get in my country and its 80% protein, so I guess it would be fine alternative to whey and casein protien powders, but I would like to know your opinion, you’re the expert. Another problem is with eggs, of course. Do you think ener-g egg replacer or a ‘flax egg’ (ground flax seeds mixed with water) would work for whole eggs?
Hello Evey, yes, you can substitute protein powders with vegan protein powders. I’ve not tried rice protein yet, but I’m a huge fan of vanilla pea protein for baking. Don’t hesitate to add a bit more of a liquid ingredient (like almond milk for example) if you see that rice protein ‘dries out’ your batter. Yes, flax eggs as egg replacers should do the trick. I also heard that lupin flour can be used as a partial egg replacement because it increases fat binding. And I do bake vegan things! Here is the vegan category on the blog: http://www.fitnesstreats.com/category/recipes/per-diet/vegan
HI! I love your site, do you have chocolate protein muffins. I looked but didn’t see them. I am sure I have missed them somewhere!
Thanks, Cara:)
Hi Cara, I have this recipe but the end result is very dense (maybe put only 1 scoop of protein powder instead of 2): http://www.fitnesstreats.com/2011/03/chocolate-protein-cupcakes/ The best muffin recipe I have is this one: http://www.fitnesstreats.com/2012/07/pea-protein-muffins/ (add 2 tbsp cocoa and chocolate chips to turn them into chocolate muffins!)
