Natural Stacks kindly sent me 3 big packages of their protein powder to experiment with. What makes it different from other protein powders? “Natural Protein™ is not your ordinary protein powder. The 2 to 1 ratio of whey to collagen protein provides a full spectrum of nutrients essential for fast recovery, a strong immune system, and lean muscle growth.” It is thus basically a mix of whey and collagen. It doesn’t contain any sweeteners, fillers, dyes, or colorings. The vanilla version is flavored only with raw Madagascar vanilla bean or the chocolate version with raw cacao.
I was worried about possibly denaturing the collagen macromolecules so I chose to steam my recipe instead of baking it. Steaming make sure that the temperature never exceeds 100 degrees Celsius. And it also keeps these brownies very moist.
Optional ingredients: add chocolate chips and walnuts. You could also replace the coconut oil with 25 g of melted dark chocolate for more decadence.
Melt coconut oil in the microwave. Mix all ingredients together in a food processor. Pour the mixture onto a small silicone mold. Wrap the silicon mold with aluminum paper. Put the wrapped mold in a food steamer and steam for 20 to 30 minutes. Let cool and place in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
