1 pear, 1/4 cup of chocolate casein, 1 tsp cocoa What I love about this recipe:
- only 3 ingredients
- has about the same macros as a protein shake
- is made in the microwave
- uses one of my favorite chocolate combinations: Pear/Chocolate. (My other faves are Hazelnut/Vanilla/Chocolate, Chestnut/Chocolate and Red chili/Chocolate… And also Chai tea/Chocolate, Orange/Chocolate, Peanut butter/Chocolate… Well actually I love any chocolate combinations besides the terrible Mint/Chocolate :)

Ingredients for 1 serving:
- 1 small, very ripe pear
- 1/4 cup chocolate casein protein powder
- 1 tsp cocoa

After having cut the pear in small pieces, I got around 1/2 cup of pear. (I didn’t bother pealing it -it was organic.) The pear must be very ripe to be mashed easily and to provide enough moisture for the whole mixture.

1/2 cup of pear

Mash everything well with a fork or use a small food processor.

I put the mixture 2 min on 600 Watts in the microwave. You have to check on it constantly during those 2 minutes. The casein mixture raises very quickly and tries escaping the bowl to make a big mess in your microwave. You need to watch it and stop it every 30 seconds or so to avoid spilling and overflowing while microwaving. The mixture is done when it looks thicker and kind of elastic. Let it cool down and put it at least one hour in the fridge to thicken up a bit more. That’s it!

Hello Ritika! It’s not possible to find casein protein powder in Albert Heijn. You can find some kinds of protein powders (usually near the diet / diabetic product aisle) but I wouldn’t recommend buying these powders because they’re usually a mix of soy & whey and are not that high in protein. The casein powder I used in the recipe was called “SciTec 100% Casein Complex Belgian Chocolate”. I bought it in a fitness supplement store. A well-know chain of supplement stores in the Netherlands is called “The Natural Health Company”. You can also find many protein powders at the “De Tuinen” stores but they usually don’t have casein powder.

The problem with this kind of products is that they’re usually sold in big jars that cost 30 euro. If you’ve never bought protein powder before I’d suggest that you ask for some free samples if possible to see if you like the taste before investing your money in it :)

Sounds delish! And BSN products often taste already nice on their own, which makes them a good basis for protein recipes!

Used the same method, but switched ingredients for a holiday feel. Molasses with a bit of spices makes for a gingerbread-y treat. Yum! Thanks for the recipe :)
