I’ve noticed an unusual number of pageviews on my post about Dukan diet’s desserts. I thought I should share another Dukan recipe from the French book “La patisserie Dukan” on my blog since this diet seems to be popular right now and since that book isn’t available in English yet.
This French toast recipe is quick & easy. It’s not the best French toast ever, but it contains a lot less carbs than normal French toast.
First, you have to make your own bread. Don’t worry, it’s going to be very simple since we’re going to cook the bread in the microwave.
Ingredients for the bread
(for 2 servings):
– 4 tablespoons oat bran
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 2 tablespoons fat free Greek yogurt
– 2 eggs
Mix everything together. Put the batter in a microwave proof dish and microwave it for 4 minutes at 750 watts.
This is what you get after 4 minutes:
A spongy thing!
Don’t get upset about this horrible “bread” you just made and let it cool down for a while.
Ingredients for the egg mixture:
– 2 eggs
– 20 cl milk (about a small glass)
– an artificial sweetener of your choice
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
Beat everything together to make the egg mixture. Take your spongy bread and cut it into pieces.
Dip each piece of bread into the egg mixture, allowing bread to soak up some of the mixture. Put a tiny bit of olive oil on a non stick large skillet on medium high heat. Add slices of bread onto the skillet. Fry until brown on both sides, flipping the bread when necessary.
A serving for one person
These French toasts taste better served warm and with a bit of maple syrup, or some berries; but these last ingredients are forbidden during the first phases of the Dukan diet!
